Breaking News - Facebook Messenger! AIM, Skype and Yahoo Watch Out!
Facebook has just released a messenger for Windows. After a leak of the trial link , Facebook has decided to put up link at their help center as a trial. If you want it click here. The download is only available for Windows computers; Macs aren’t supported yet.
According to the Facebook help center, while you surf the web or use other applications on your computer you can:
- Chat and message with your friends on Facebook
- See the latest updates from your friends in ticker
- Get quick notifications about what’s going on
I did test out the Facebook Messenger. The messenger runs great. It can float and be moved around easily or with a click be attached to the desktop’s side. Just like on the Facebook chat, the friends you contact the most move into a favorites section above the complete list of your friends who are online. Another great benefit of the Facebook messenger is that you no longer need to memorize your friends screen names. The messenger uses the name you use on you normal Facebook account. You can also send messages to people offline through the messenger.
This Messenger is really going to give AIM a scare. With all these great features AIM looks outdated and no longer needed.
