History repeats itself as they say, and every generation or so, the population of the United States gets itself entangled in diametric opposition on several key moral issues. Some examples? In the 1860s it was slavery, the 1910s women’s suffrage, the 1960s: the Vietnam war. Now in the 2010s, it’s immigration (again). In the past, political cartoonists made light of these serious issues. Today, techies are having all of the fun. In Party Wars, you can pick a side - Democrat or Republican, and be as ruthless as you wish in the quest to either build or destroy a precious or loathed border wall. Are you ready to stir up some trouble?

Party Wars is all about strategy. Whichever side you choose, the characters will all seem eerily familiar. On the right you have “President Rump”, “Vice President Dense” and First Lady “Moolania”. Each of the main characters has a weapon which you use to shoot at the opposition. In each level, your job is to prevent the opposition from reaching the end of the path. The pathway has several circular platforms placed throughout. Tapping a platform reveals three characters. You have to choose one. Choosing any character deducts from your cash reserves. In the case of Republicans, your run-of-the-mill secret service man costs a mere $100, where First Lady Moolania costs $350. Since there are at least six platforms, you do the math! Be weary with your choices.
As you can imagine, “higher priced” characters have slightly more power. No need to worry however. Every time you “yeet” (destroy) an enemy, you collect more cash. That cash can in turn be used to obtain power ups or select characters which are more powerful in later levels. The pathway in the first level leads right to the white house with 20+ enemies to destroy. By the sixth level, you’re dealing with what looks like over 100 enemies. Having more cash is a must. When we played this level, we were sure to select Moolania, place all of our characters toward the end of the path and upgraded all of our weapons. Upgrading speed was a non-negotiable. The entire board was covered with enemies. Luckily, victory was ours.

Keep in mind that the cash you accumulate can and should be used to strengthen or destroy the wall depending on which side you’re on. With that in mind there’s more. The start up menu contains a bunch of other choices. “Quick Start” throws you right into the game without any preparation. “Conquest Map” lets you expand your borders to other lands. In a map which resembles a world map (but not quite), you can spend between $150,000 and $500,000 to purchase other continents (if it were only that cheap in real life). While you’re at it, you can also get free cash by watching video ads. Finally, “Infinite Level” lets you yeet as much as you’d like with an endless number of enemies sent in your direction.

Our only gripes are the lack of an in-game tutorial. The developer is currently working on this according to feedback we read from a review. Also, you can tap on characters to position them, but those positions are grid-like and not fluid. Still, you can position them strategically. The game has to be a challenge after all. If current events drive you crazy and you would rather poke fun at or “get revenge” in a way that won’t have authorities looking for you, Party Wars is a great place to start (and stay).
