The app first prompts you to sign up. Entering your email and preferred password will net you a code to enter in order to complete the registration. Once you're able to log in, you are immediately greeted with what the apps calls "Daily Affirmation". This feature can be toggled on and off. In a nutshell, you receive motivational quotes to get you going in the form of audio, a calm soothing voice with rainforest background noise. Phrases such as "I choose to not take it personally", "I am worthy of love", "I can accomplish anything I set my mind too", "I will not worry about things I cannot control" are one of the many phrases you are greeted with. The icon to toggle this are located on both the top and bottom of the screen which is convenient.
Here you can see the main screen and custom goal prompt in Journy
Below the daily affirmation and profile icon, you are presented with a visual quote and below that are your goal categories. Journy's approach is to get you to set three goals in any of its stock categories. These categories include "Character", "Finances", "Fitness" and Health. The app also allows you to make custom categories which is a nice (and necessary) touch. Each category has a cover image. Custom categories allow custom cover images. You can select them from your gallery or use your device's camera to snap the photo of your choice.
Here you can see the three goal and goal frequecy prompts - Streamlined goal setting!
Once you click on a category, you are prompted to enter three goals. The app encourages you to work from the proven SMART approach to goal setting. That is considering goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound. In a nutshell, using that as a gauage ensures that you have an achievable goal which can be measured and done in a reasonable amount of time. There are tons of resources that break down the SMART approach. We won't do that here so the focus of this writing is the app.
Once you enter your goals, you are prompted to enter the frequency you wish to be reminded of those goals. You can choose "Just Once", "Weekly", "Monthly" or "Daily". To test drive the app, you wrote in simple goals in the "Character" section. We chose "Daily" and "Just Once". Once you set the frequency of the reminders, you then select the time and then "Boom", you are off to the races! As expected, we received reminders at the times we set. Reminders send you a notification and a prompt.
Journy has a huge amount of video and text resources in its modules
Journy goes way beyond the goal setting mentioned. The app has an encyclopedia of resources in the form of text, links and videos contained in "Modules". Included Modules are "Discovery Learning", "Keep Good Notes", "Lifestyle Spot Checks", "Routine Of The Greats", "Think Through Actions" and "Work Hard". To show how much is packed in these modules, "Discovery Learning" has 33 entries! The list is to exhaustive to include here, but some standouts include "Actioning Your Goals", "Healthy Knowledge", "How To Eat To Mitigate Cancer" and "How To Use Memory Hacks". Each entry has recommended reading and recommended videos. For actioning your goals, a link to the text "Smarter Faster Better: The Transformative Power Of Real Productivity" is included. For many of the entries, YouTube links are included. "The Harsh Effects Of Sugar And Refined White Carbs" includes many, many video links".

The main menu, or "Dashboard" keeps everything streamlined. The "Accountability Circle" lists all of the goals in one place in a list like fashion. As the app encourages you to share your goals with other users, you can view the goals of others in this area as well. There is also a space to approve add requests from other users as well as the ability to edit your account details and manage your subscriptions. The menu finally has social media links to support the developer on multiple platforms.
Sell Apps And Keep 100% Of Your Profits!
You might be asking, is it worth it? What makes Journy stand out is its simplicity. Daily soothing affirmations, the limit of three SMART goals to make your chances or reaching them more manageable and realistic, as well as having a huge amount of resources at your fingertips in the form of text and videos. Huge is an understatment. For its simplicity, we like it and believe it is one approach that prove to be effective for those who wish to take big leaps by taking small steps.
